My Mom’s Sausage Gravy Recipe

My ultimate comfort food is my mom’s biscuits and gravy (known as B&G in our family) is comforting, flavorful and will make your belly happy!

Growing up we used the box biscuits but now the box has been thrown out and we now enjoy this family favorite with RCP’s Sourdough Cheesy Biscuits. If you can’t get your bag of RCP biscuits, use your favorite biscuit and top off with this homey comfort food. Enjoy!

Biscuits And Gravy
Gravy Ingredients:
•	Jimmy dean sausage (often mixing spicy and regular or spicy and sage)
•	Flour (you can use gf flour)
•	Quart of milk (or Half and Half)
•	Salt and pepper
•	Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
  • Pick up your RCP’s Sourdough Cheesy Biscuits or your favorite biscuit

  • In a skillet over med - med/high heat brown sausage and cook thoroughly, but don't over cook it.

  • Add 3-4 Tablespoons of flour to the sausage and grease.

  • Stir until well incorporated, until flour and grease starts to brown.

  1. Slowly add 1/2-3/4 of the quart of milk to make the gravy.   Stir and bring up to heat.  Continue to stir and simmering about 1-2 minutes and slowly add the rest of the milk to get the gravy consistency correct. You want it thick, but not glue.

Every time you make the gravy it comes out a little different so just adjust the ingredients slightly to your taste buds.

If the gravy comes out too thin, cook it down a little for a couple minutes. If that doesn’t work add a bit more of flour to thicken it.

If it comes out to thick, simply add a little more milk.

  • As soon as the gravy is the consistency to your liking, remove from heat (it will continue to thicken once removed, so have your biscuits ready).

  • Salt and pepper to taste.

  • Red pepper flakes to taste if you'd like.

  • Serve over your biscuit, smile and enjoy.
